One of the main advantages of fibre optic lighting is the way that multple points of light can be lit by one light source. This means that universal effects such as colour changing and twinkle are easy to achieve.
For example, if you decide that you want to change the order of scrolling colours, a simple colour wheel swap is all that is required. This is in contrast to other conventional lighting techniques where achieving this would either be impossible or much more costly.
